It also makes the perfect sprinkle on a salad in place of croutons as well as added to yogurt or used to top a really good vanilla ice-cream. And it makes an excellent snack mix just on its own!

Our Sweet and Savory Five-Spiced Granola calls for not only the warming spices of Five-Spice Seasoning, but also just a hint of cayenne powder for a sweet, savory, and spicy take on the traditional breakfast treat of granola! If heat isn’t your thing, feel free to skip the cayenne.

Homemade Granola is Easy and Versatile.

When creating your own granola, there is a lot of versatility in the nuts and seeds you can add. We like to use walnuts and pecans, but cashews, almonds, peanuts would work just as well. Pepitas (pumpkin seeds) and/or sunflower seeds are excellent seed choices–make sure you have the hulled variety for this recipe. Feel free to also add in chia, sesame, hemp seeds, or flax meal to this recipe. Your nuts and seeds can be roasted or raw–either will work. If choosing salted roasted nuts and/or seeds, you will want to cut back on the salt added to the recipe.
