As the summer winds down and we start to think about all the activities that still need fitting in before fall, a punch of energy couldn’t hurt. So, this month’s Tea of the Month Box is filled with caffeinated teas that keep you running through the last weeks of summer!
Need enough energy to outswim a shark? How about just enough to climb out of bed after a late night spent with family and friends? Jump Start will help you hit the day running! This blend of toasted mate and black tea has a spicy cinnamon kick. The flavor is nutty, spicy, and earthy. Adding a bit of sweetener and cream brings out the flavor of the cacao nibs and creates a creamy roasted delight! Mate likes a cold rinse before brewing, so give this a quick rinse in cold water before brewing at 210° for 3-5 minutes. And we’ve found it holds up well to multiple brews–so drink up that caffeine and be sure to outswim those sharks!
We’re debating renaming this tea Pocketful of Sunshine. It’s just such a bright light tea! Arabica leaf tea are the leaves from the coffee plant, but is nothing like your usual morning cup of joe. Rather it is light bodied and mild allowing the lemongrass and natural lemon flavors to shine through. If you’ve struggled to appreciate the flavor of turmeric, this may be the turmeric tea for you. Often turmeric brings a bitter heaviness to teas, but we find this tea to be light and refreshing. It’s a wonderfully healthy way to get your caffeine boast in the morning. Brew this tea at 200° for 5 minutes. These leaves never get bitter, so you don’t need to worry about overbrewing.
Our shark themed box wouldn’t be complete without our Blue Mermaid Tea! Sharks and Mermaids are good friends, right?! Anna-Marie blended this tea specifically to make a refreshing summer iced tea. The herbaceous flavor of the green tea is complementing by hints of mint and lemongrass. The Butterfly Pea Flowers interact with the lemongrass to create an enchanting turquoise hue perfect for a cup of tea for your favorite mermaid! Brew this tea at 180° for 2-3 minutes.
